When you stay at Kefalonia, you, your friends, family, colleagues or contemporaries have the exclusive use of the property and grounds for the duration of your booking. You will be met by your hosts, Bruce and Daphne Ruscoe, who will show you around and answer your questions, and then leave. You won't see them again unless you ask for them.

Situated in the midst of a huge, extremely private garden, the main homestead features several living spaces, five bedrooms, multiple bathrooms and even room for the staff. Built in the classic New Zealand 'luxury homestead' style, that pays homage to both European and American design, Kefalonia is bright, sunny, welcoming and luxurious, whilst retaining the personality of a family home. This is no personality-free hotel.

LOUNGES & PLAYROOMS

Throw a log into the wood-burning fire, select an interesting book off the shelf, sink into the Italian leather sofas and just enjoy the Kefalonia style of life. There’s room for those who want to have a social night to remember with friends, as well as plenty of space for those who want to cherish those quiet magic times. In the loft games room others can catch up on a movie or enjoy a game of pool.

Formal lounge

Adjacent to the spectacular formal entry is the large formal lounge which is perfect for entertaining, or just to use as a parents' retreat. Included is a formal dining area ideal for social engagements while the children watch television in one of the other living areas.

DINING

Dining is always the day's major social event at Kefalonia, This is where everybody takes time out to catch up, and savour the company and the situation. The formal dining table seats ten people, and is the perfect situation to have long slow celebration of life, punctuated of course, with good food and wine.

Other meals can be partaken using the dining area in the main lounge which has seating for eight.

Al fresco dining is well catered for on the large patio, with its gas-fired BBQ; a great place to watch the sun go down and enjoy the evening skies.

KITCHEN

One of New Zealand’s warmest traditions is getting together to prepare and enjoy food. is well catered for at Kefalonia.

The kitchen is large, well laid-out and modern. There’s plenty of room to cater for groups of all sizes, meet the needs of your Chef, offering the convenience of the latest appliances, and a variety of large working spaces everything is easy. The kitchen is strategically placed between the inside and outside dining areas for ease of use and reinforcing its social value.

The bedrooms retain all their original elegance with all the modern conveniences. Our interior decorators have used fine fabrics, furnishings and colour to accentuate the old world glamour of the rooms.
